Welcome to Metanoia of Vermont! We are a homestead and a small Christian community nestled in the hills of Strafford, Vermont, where members and guests seek to follow the Way of Christ through an integrated life of prayer, work with our hands, and study. We are a Catholic, lay community where all are welcome to come and walk with us as we seek to follow Jesus Christ and a life of prayer, service, and mutual love. Inspired and guided by the Benedictine charism, we commit to stability, obedience and conversion of life in our relationship with Christ and His Church.
In solidarity with Christ-followers in all walks of life, we at Metanoia have a particular commitment to support the prayer life of lay people, strengthen home and family life (the ‘domestic church’), and live in right relationship with the created order, including both the natural world and our bodies.
Our primary ministry is our life of prayer and fidelity here on the homestead. Our secondary ministry is offering hospitality to those who come to walk alongside us here at Metanoia. Our tertiary ministries include sharing about our way of life and faith in Christ through the written word, interviews and podcasts, offering spiritual direction, and facilitating occasional retreats at other locations.
We invite you to explore this site to learn more about us and our life here. We are currently on sabbatical and are not receiving guests on retreat at this time. Our usual hospitality will resume in 2025, at which time we would love for you to come for a visit to walk the land, pray, or share a meal and conversation with us.
